We’ve been the sick house since Sunday and it’s been no fun! On Saturday Will seemed awfully cuddly and sweet. I enjoyed it lots, but was worrying in the back of my head that he might be coming down with something. Sure enough, Saturday night he started running a fever and it was up to 102 by Sunday morning. Poor guy! Sunday morning I woke up feeling terrible, but sucked it up since our pastor had asked me to take pictures at church for the website (more of those coming soon!). I seriously felt like I had the flu and (TMI) one of my breasts was hurting really bad. I had all the signs of things to look for with Mastitis (a breast infection breastfeeding women often get), so I called the on call OBGYN at my doctor’s office. He called in a prescription of antibiotics for me and I got to feeling better quickly, though I’m still in some pain on that side.

Will most likely had a cold…poor little guy! The pediatrician said his first three fevers will probably not be too far apart :( So hopefully he’ll stay well and not get another fever! Greg and I both caught a little bit of the cold Will had and then we think Greg got food poisoning on Tuesday night/Wednesday. Fun week, huh? ;) We’re all feeling better today (especially Will) and hopefully are on the mend.

I’ve got a busy weekend ahead of me and I think it’s going to be fun! Friday night we’ll be relaxing at home before our big day Saturday. Our friends, Chelsea and Zach, are getting married and I’m taking pictures at their wedding. Will gets to go to his first wedding ever as an “outside baby” (he went to quite a few as an inside baby!). It’s going to be lots of fun. I’m really looking forward to their wedding and getting some great shots of them. Then Sunday I’m back off to the church to get some more pictures for the website. Fun fun!

I know you all come here for the pictures, so here are two for today. They’re not new (my camera hasn’t been touched since Sunday), but still fun!

First, the piggies. Precious, precious piggies! I don’t think I can get enough pictures of his feet :) I love them!

I don’t know how you can look at this picture and not laugh. His expression is too hilarious!

Dear Will,

Today you are four months old. Four months! How is that even possible? It seems like yesterday that I was meeting you for the first time…slow down baby boy! You are the best gift that I’ve ever been given and I can’t thank you enough for making me a Mommy. You bring joy to my life each and every day. You make me smile, you make me laugh, and sometimes you even make me cry. But I love every single second of it. I thought I loved you four months ago…boy, I had no idea what was coming! The depth of my love for you is greater than I ever imagined possible. It’s scary and exciting and wonderful. It makes me wonder if the way I feel about you can even come close to the way God feels about each of his children. I hope one day you’ll experience that overwhelming, knock-you-off-your-feet type of love for your own child, so you can fully realize the way I feel about you, precious boy.

You’re so different than you were four months ago. You giggle, you grin, you talk, and are a total ham. You love to be the center of attention and like nothing more than to have “conversations” with people. You can entertain a whole group of old ladies by grinning and flirting with them! You’re a roller now. You can roll from tummy to back and are still incredibly close at going from back to tummy. You love to snuggle, your paci, Where the Wild Things Are, the pool, the Mei Tai carrier, bath time, the Exersaucer, the dogs, and being outside. There isn’t too much you dislike anymore! You are fascinated with faces right now. You reach your chubby little arms up and grab for Mommy or Daddy’s nose, eyes, and lips while we’re holding you. You love to fly on my knees and to be pulled up to sitting or standing. When we sing “The Wheels on the Bus” you grin and laugh when I get to the part where the “mommies go shh shh shh.” It gets you every time, so I sing it more often on purpose. We both end up rolling on the floor laughing.

You’re still not a great sleeper, but I’ve decided that I don’t care. This time with you is flying by so fast that sleeping in our bed for a few months isn’t going to matter in the grand scheme of things. And I might just secretly enjoy those midnight wakings…just you and me in the dark, staring at each other until we both drift back off to sleep. Sweet, peaceful moments that I’ll never get to experience again.

I love you so much, Will. Thank you for making me a Mommy and for being such a blessing in our lives.

Love,
Mommy

A Year Ago Today

July 27, 2009

I stared at this, completely unaware of how this certain little boy was going to rock my world.

Oh, how things can change in a year! I…

- moved to a new house
- started student teaching
- switched to a new school
- got a job teaching 5th grade
- graduated college
- got certified to teach all subjects
- sold a car
- bought a car
- had a baby
- bought a house
- quit my job teaching 5th grade
- started a business
- moved into new house
- started an in-home daycare.

Whew. I think I’m done with major life changes for the next couple years! I’m content to enjoy my absolute blessing and thank God for all the wonderful changes of the past year.

Last week my Aunt and her son Brayden came down to Austin and visited for the entire week. It was SO good to see her! She’s not that much older than me and we had lots of fun laughing, talking, and just hanging out. I hate that my family is so spread apart across the United States…Greg and I will definitely be hanging close to family because I feel like it is so important for Will to grow up close (in location) to his grandparents, aunt, uncles.

Anyways, the last night that Penny and Brayden were here, we took a little trip down to the neighborhood green belt and took these awesome shots. My brother, Matt, tagged along (read: was forced to come along!) to play too. He’s going to join the Navy after he graduates college and hopefully become a Navy Seal. I know these pictures will be priceless to me when he’s off fighting for our country! Enjoy!

Sweet Brayden! Can’t believe he’s going to be a fifth grader!

Love this (big) kid :)

Some shirtless pictures were taken, but I’ve promised the ‘lil bro’ that they won’t appear on the site…I’ll see if I can coerce him into letting me show them though…they’re awesome!

Will has become fascinated with his tongue lately. I have yet to get a good picture of it, but he’s constantly gumming it and sticking it out. He loooves it if you’ll stick yours out back at him. Often, this gets him giggling, and with a little encouragement you can get a good belly laugh out of him. I love it…I love him! I seriously cannot get enough of him during the day.

I had so much fun playing with him today…Marley was napping and we had 30 minutes of just-the-two-of-us time. He had the hiccups bad and I was bouncing him on my knee because he was pretty annoyed that his hiccups weren’t going away. Well, every time he hiccuped, I’d bounce him twice and say “hic-cup!” in a high pitched voice. He thought this was hi-larious and giggled and laughed and grinned with his tongue sticking out. We did that for a good 5 minutes straight…because of course I did it over and over again so I could hear his adorable little laugh.

He’s also a rolly baby now! Yesterday he rolled over from his tummy to his back for the first time, and he did it two more times today. These were real rolls, not cheating rolls where my weight on the bed helped angle it enough for him to roll ;) I make a big deal of him rolling and he thinks it’s pretty cool that Mom is cheering when he finally ends up on his back! I thought for sure he’d roll from back to tummy first since he’s been so close for so long, but I guess his dislike of tummy time helped him to roll tummy to back first. I’ll have to try to get some shots of it on camera soon because it’s darn cute!

I’m slowly getting around to proofing the pictures I took of him last week. It’s slow-going though because I’ve got a few other sessions I’m working on too. These are definite keepers though.

Newborn sessions may take place anywhere in the greater Austin area. Choose from the 1 1/2 hr. modern session or the traditional session to capture your newborn.

I met up with Elli this past Saturday morning and we had a blast walking through the Arboretum shooting her senior pictures. These are three of my favorites from her session, but honestly, I had a hard time choosing favorites! She’s so photogenic and gorgeous. Enjoy your sneak peek, Elli!

Welcome!

Welcome to the new blog!

I’ve uploaded all the posts from the old blog, so you won’t be missing a thing. My favorite thing about the new blog? The fact that my pictures can be huge! To show off the picture-hugeness, here’s one of my camera’s favorite subject…Will! He’s talking, of course. He never.stops.talking. :)

I hope you enjoy the new blog as much as I am…I’ve got two sessions I’m dying to share with you, but for now I’m off to bed. Happy Monday!
