What to Expect
Prior to your session, you will have a phone or email consultation with me to discuss location choices, what to wear, and anything else you’d like to know about your session. Your session can take place just about anywhere – your home provides a great backdrop to preserve memories and parks or other favorite spots are also popular choices. The possibilities are endless!
What to Wear
I love photographing you in what you’re comfortable in. I love bright, bold colors and patterns. Families need not match, but your clothing should compliment one another. If you’re unsure about your clothing choices, feel free to drop me an email or call me to chat about what you’ll be wearing. I’m more than happy to help you decide! When picking clothing, don’t forget about your feet. Your shoes will be in the pictures, so make sure you take care to pick something nice for them too. Bare feet often look great in photos, so don’t be surprised if I ask you to take off your shoes for a few shots!
Newborn sessions must take place during your infant’s first 14 days of life, preferably in the 5-10 day range. Of course, if your child has to spend any time in the NICU, we will work with whatever time-frame we’re given! We’ll allow plenty of time for feeding, changing, and calming the baby, so don’t stress about the time it takes to capture good images. Newborns look best when photographed in their own skin, but make sure to set out any mementos (blankets, clothing, hats, etc.) that you’d like to appear in some of the photos so we don’t forget. Once your session is booked, I will provide you with a detailed guide of how to prepare for your newborn session and what to expect during it.
*Please make sure to contact me during your pregnancy to schedule your newborn session. Then, once your baby arrives we can nail down a definite date. This ensures that I’m available when your little blessing arrives.
What Happens Next?
If you have signed off on your model release, I will post a Facebook sneak peek sometime during the week following your session. Your session will also be posted on the blog if you have signed off on that portion of the model release, however during busy times when I have lots of sessions going on, this usually doesn’t happen until after your session. Approximately 3 weeks from your session date, you will receive an email from me detailing how to view your gallery slideshow. You will then choose which images you would like on your disc (Simple Sessions only!) and I will prepare your disc to mail it to you. You can expect to have your pictures in your hands within 4 weeks of your session date.
